My experience working for spcaLA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles) has given me a great deal of insight when it comes to matching the right dog with the right home. I have spent years performing behavior assessments on shelter dogs and am proud of the knowledge I have gained from them. That knowledge helped to ensure that we were placing safe dogs into homes that would hopefully last their entire lives.
One of the hardest things for a shelter dog to handle is to be taken into a home but then returned to the shelter months later. This often happens because either the dog is no longer a cute puppy and requires more than the owner can give, or the owners just didn't take everything into consideration and made a choice based on emotion rather than reason. Not making rush decisions and preparing for the dog BEFORE he or she comes home will often solve this problem.
Choosing the right age and breed of dog for your lifestyle can make all the difference in the world; and that's where I come in. Together we can take a look at what type of lifestyle you wish to have with your new dog and from there get started on finding the one that best fits.
The first days, weeks, and months that your new dog shares with you are the most important. You set the tone right away of how you want your dog to behave at home and in public. Get things started off the right way!
I will help with house training, basic obedience, and overall good manners. We can work together to help your new dog become a wonderful addition to your home.
