Dana Zinn and Sue Sternberg Webinars

The Ethology of Distractors and Distractions

In this webinar we will focus on our dogs’ body language as it pertains to not only encountering distractors in container searches but also environmental distractors including threat responses and displacement sniffing.

Here are some of the things we will discuss:

  • What are distractors? Are they more than just food or toys in boxes?

  • What does stress sniffing look like?

  • What should we do if our dog is stressed during a search?

  • Do our dogs look different working distractors vs odor in containers? Can you always tell the difference?

  • Can other things we do to enrich our dogs’ lives contribute to container distractor problems?

  • Can how we train distractor be clearer or better for the dog?
