Containers and Vehicles
We’ve grouped these two topics together because they are often looked at similarly because, unlike interior and exterior searches, the handler knows the hides will be either in a container or on a vehicle. This knowledge changes our expectations of how dogs should search and can lead to increased frustration and misunderstandings.
Here are some of the things we will discuss in regard to these two search elements:
Why do people tend to handle containers and vehicles differently than exteriors and interiors, and should they?
What are some of the varied reasons that teams struggle with containers?
How may foundational training affect future performance?
Why can false alerts happen in containers more than the other elements?
